When they find their dreams crashing in marriage most people, instead of seeing stark reality, cling on to false hope of a miracle. It needs several assertive steps to move away from the relationship and towards separation. As someond said, divorce is like severing a branch in order to save the entire tree.

Most fear divorce because they can't differentiate the between the newfound freedom and the feared loneliness. But you are the one who discovered the difference and worked your way to independence and growth. I truly admire your courage and determination to extricate yourself from the debris of the collapased marriage. Cudos to you!!

I want to let you know that while you've every right to express your dissatisfaction with my therapy, the reasons you've mentioned are misplaced and inauthentic.

1) I have complete empathy for you as a person, but I do not encourage or approve of any behaviour that causes harm/dismay to anyone, and your behaviour was close to that.

2) There was breach of privacy due to your behaviour towards your spouse when he was in a 1:1 session with me, which is unethical and not conducive to relationship building. This hampered the couple therapy plan I had for you as a therapist. On this ground I refused to take you for couples therapy and terminated the session from my end. However, you urged me to accept you and restart the session. Then I had to inevitably lay the ground rules for you to respect ethics and permit me to lead you through the session for any positive outcome.

3) Then you, along with your spouse participated in the couples session. At the end you both expressed satisfaction.

4) I just discovered that you are my returning client, and more: You have participated in my 6-month psychotherapy training course (IMPART: Imparting the Art of Psychotherapy) in early 2014, and have given good feedback. Thereafter you were my client (File no. *****, Feb 4, 2014) for your personal issues. During this period I remember to have attended a distress call from you, to your satisfaction and gratefulness.

Having had a good therapy experience with me in the past must have made you choose me now for your couples issues.

I hope you will self-reflect and clear your misunderstanding. I wish you do therapy elsewhere and get well. My deep compassions for you.
