Dr. Sunder Narasimhan

Consulted for evaluating my mother whether she had diabetic foot issues as she is a long time diabetic and was facing some issues with her feet. Doctor calmly and attentively listened to us and undertook a physical examination followed by a scan. He showed and simultaneously explained the scan stating to our relief that the blood vessels deep and on surface were conducting the blood pretty well and mentioned no other interventions like laser etc is required. Prescribed medication and cream to keep leg well moisturised and to help the diabetic neuropathy problem. Advised mother to focus on diabetes control and not be pushed to taking up other treatments that other docs may suggest like laser etc. All through Dr. Sundar was very understanding, spoke assuringly, and gave confidence to mother. I appreciate Dr. Sundars expertise and approach and would recommend him to others looking for a evaluation and resolution to vascular issues of the feet.

I visited Bengaluru in the month of October 2022 and after consultation with one of the doctors of Basanthnagar locality's hospital, it was suggested that the set up of a stent was extremely necessary and inevitable. I was totally astonished as there were no such symptoms at all. Even regarding my vericose vein problem, there were no problems of itching, swelling or clotting etc.

Then one of my friend of Astra Zeneca gave me his reference and during consultation he elaborately described all the procedures. He almost did the colour droppler test in presence of my wife and friend himself without charging a penny. Thereafter he also drew the blood circulation path of the lower part of our body and vividly described the necessity of the stent.

Last but not the least he told us about the procedure of Angiogram and informed us that just before the operation he would perform the Angiogram test and if any blockage was detected, he would opt for its removal via the balloon treatment unless the blockage is too severe.

We were very happy with his detailed explanation and made up our mind to be operated under him.

On 18.11.22. i.e. on the date of operation and after the Angiogram, the Doctor informed me that there was no blockage, the dye was flowing very smoothly and thus there was no need for the placement of any stent. I was fully relaxed before my varicose vein operation through Laser Technology.

Now after the operation, on that very day I was able to walk slowly at late night and the recovery process is going on smoothly. On 25.11.22 after final check up with the doctor S.Narasimhan, we returned to Kolkata.

I sincerely convey my gratitude to Dr. S.Narasimhan, Dr Manju ( his Junior ) and his whole team ( I apologize for not being able to recollect their names ) for their excellent work and strongly recommend this Doctor and his team for varicose vein related problems.

Dr Narasimhan is very friendly, approachable, and always gives ample time to his patient and relatives to clear any persisting doubts. And most important thing is that most of the time he himself takes up the job irrespective of it being a colour droppler test or a simple task of bandaging.

Only thing I would like to add here is that there is a need of operation clips and hope that infrastructure will be developed by Apollo Bannerghatta Unit in near future.

I would always be grateful to Dr.Sunder Narasimhan for the kind of treatment he has given to my father which in all aspects helped my father come out of a serious condition of Diabetic Foot.

It was on Sept 27 2019 that we first consulted Dr.Sunder Narasimhan at Apollo Hospitals Bannergatta road. My father was suffering from Dry Gangrene and the infection was spreading fast from his toes to his legs. He is diabetic and 62 yrs old. As soon as the doctor examined his legs,he was sure of the disease and suggested for an Angiogram. We got it done and the reports showed up to be disappointing, the blood flow in his legs was very thin.This had to be corrected before treating the Gangrene.

Dr.Sunder Narasimhan and his Team suggested that stent placement can be done,but due to heavy deposits in the arteries present in thigh region this procedure was unsuccessful.We were heartbroken and this is when the doctor went ahead with a Bypass surgery for the legs. This procedure was conducted on Oct 3 2019 and it went on for 9 hours.

We trusted the doctors and we were not wrong in doing so.The operation was successful and the blood flow showed up to be normal.

This gave us more hope on his recovery.Slowly he was strong enough to walk on his legs and then there was still this infection in his legs that we had to deal with.

On 10th Oct 2019 my father was discharged for a week.

21st Oct 2019 , we got admitted in the hospital for his Toe Amputation process. On 22nd the operation was performed. One toe from each leg was amputed. For 3 days he was kept under observation.Since the infection had spread to one more toe , even that was amputed on 31st Oct 2019.

All through this process the whole team of Dr.Sunder Narasimhan was very supporting and hopeful which helped our family to survive such dreadful situation. For another one month, till Nov 18th 2019 ,my father was admitted for post operation recovery. After final discharge, when my father was healing, we were asked to visit the doctor on alternate days for dressing procedure for 4 months till 11th March 2020.

His legs were slowly recovering with continuous dressing and antibiotic course. We followed the antibiotic course as suggested by Dr. Vinay (Infectious Disease) and we also were suggested to go for Vacuum dressing for one leg which helped in healing procedure.

The above mentioned person is my Dad having past history of Diabetes Mellitus type 2 since 20 + Yrs. Accidentally his left heel got hurt in Nov 2018 & he was having non-healing ulcer, the wound not getting cured. When we approached to one of the hospital on 22-12-18. My Dad underwent multiple wound debridement & came to know he is having case of lower limb Peripheral vascular disease. On 16-1-19, we visited the hospital & took appointment with Dr. Sunder Narasimhan, we met the Dr. Sunder Narasimhan & he has gone through all the reports & without any delay he explained the procedure he his going to do step by step to help my Dad foot without amputated and save his leg by undergoing peripheral angiogram+ Balloon angioplasty + stenting all @ once on the same day, because of his poor blood circulation the wound was not healing. We witnessed the experience & confidence of Dr.Sunder Narasimhan on his swift action. Later the next day 17-1-19 taken up for left heal wound debridement.

By all pre- operative evaluation, Physician fitness Dr. Kalpana Janardan was viewed of management of diabetes and Anemia, treatment advise was followed. Dr. Sunder Narasimhan&team: Imran, Jiju, Basil, Pushpa was involved in reviewing my Dad’s health aspects as well as the footcondition which the wound was under vaccum dressing .The use of vaccum dressing was not useful after treating for couple of weeks.Later vaccum dressing was discontinued & normal dressing was carried on alongwith antibiotics medication Dr. Vinay viewed for infection of wound & medicated through the culture reports it was helpful for the wound to cure gradually.

Even in busy schedule of Dr. Sunder Narasimhan & his team: Imran, Basil, JiJu was very helpful for making the wound to cure in proper guidance. Further Dr Sunder Narasimhan advised after seeing the wound improvement couple of months i. e wound +health (sugar levels) & is with out infection, to go for skin grafting. After a week later we again admitted on 17-4-19 for skin grafting procedure. My Dad was courageous to withstand the ups and downs. The skin grafting procedure went very well & being discharged after 3 days in stable condition.

After, the recovery procedure carried out with dressing & @ home was very important to keep the wound healthy and safe his foot with out pressure. Our family guidance and support made it succesfull in this process .

All the follow up and guidance from Dr. Sunder Narasimhan & his team played a vital role in curing my Dad’s foot (left heel).

I must say Dr. Sunder Narasimha is God’s blessing in disguise. I am telling this from the bottom of my heart, who saved my father's leg from getting amputated and saved his life.

It was in Mid May 2021 that my father had complained about severe pain in his right leg, and we had to rush him to Manipal hospital, which is very close to our place in GM Palya, where the doctor said he must do the Angiogram to check the severity of the blockage in his leg. He did tell that he may do the angioblast if they see any blockages and in case if it is complicated would inform the proceeding. During the surgery the doctor could blast the blockage in the middle artery, however, he could not do the remaining two core arteries as he felt it is not possible as the blockages were very deep. In fact, he had ruled it out as highly impossible and said the blood flow is very less and may have to wait and watch and if this worsens, he had recommended amputating the leg. Post-Surgery my dad had to go on all sorts of complications such as low BP and had to be in ICU and eventually had caught up with Delirium. After two weeks the doctor amputated his little toe, however, the wound did not heal even after three weeks of amputation, since the blood flow was very less, the doctor said that we will have to amputate his leg and said if we do his life is at risk after the surgery as his other vital parameters are very poor. We were literally shocked as we felt and hoped the leg was fine as they were well moving except the little toe not getting healed. The doctor was always emphasizing possible amputation of the leg every time we would visit.

I started looking at alternatives on google and found Dr. Sunder Narasimha at Apollo Bannergatta Bangalore, with some amazing and astonishing reviews of how he had rescued and recovered complicated cases like my father's. I had called him immediately the moment we were told that his right leg had to be amputated. July 13th Tuesday in the morning at around 5 AM, my mother called him back who was the attendee for my father and told me the Surgery proceeding will start at 6 AM and they may start the actual surgery by 8 AM, I was really surprised as in Manipal they nearly took two days with various tests and multiple consultant visits to my father’s ward before controlling and doing the surgery.

Dr. Sunder Narasimha is very talented, ****** ************** and has a fellowship in the field of Vascular Surgery, I see him never giving up till things get sorted. When we took for surgery, he had found the blockage was too heavy and was impossible with forward Angiography, he went the reverse way and got all my father’s artery cleared and showed me how he did, I bet none in the city and few in the country would be able to do that. My Father blood flow is absolutely in full, unfortunately less than 1/3 of his feet around has been amputated due to the delay that we had to undergo. However, the healing is in progress and is healing up very well. Post-surgery as Dr Sunder Narasimha and his team know all the best techniques and processes of making the wound heal fast such as putting in the Vacuum healing process and getting them dressed up in the right way has enabled my father to get into the healing phase quicker.

I was referred to Dr. Sunder Narasimhan for my mother's skin grafting procedure and I'm glad I had such a great medical assistance from his team. My mother had suffered septic shock and debridement was done for her leg and since the wound was so big skin grafting had to be done. I was amazed by how Dr. Sunder was so knowledgeable and advised us on the best procedures for my mother with minimalistic pain. They say you should always trust your doctor and I am glad I did... it was Dr. Sunder's calm and brilliant attitude which made me believe him blindly for each and every step and I am glad I did that. I would like to thank Dr. Sunder Narasimhan for performing excellent surgery on my mother's limbs which was diagnosed for Bilateral lover limb varicose veins.

I had previously visited a reputed hospital for an annual health checkup for my mother who is 68 years old. Along with it we had checked on the discoloring (skin turning dark-black) near the ankles and foot. We were suggested to perform the Doppler Scan which further diagnosed to Lower Limb Varicose Veins, which needed an immediate surgery. But we weren't too confident on the surgeons in that reputed hospital, although they were the ones who identified it but then identification is one thing and performing a 100% surgery was something I was not confident about.

I came back home and started to search for Vascular Surgeons online and among a few I came across Dr. Sunder Narasimhan. I started to read about him, his experience, his accomplishments and mostly the reviews about him. I had a strong positive hunch about him and I knew my search ended here. I took an appointment with him for the very next day, consulted him with my mother along with the reports. He then suggested EVLT which was painless procedure and explained us in detail as to how it would be done and what would be the post surgery process and reactions if any.

I, Naaz Parveen was suffering from varicose veins in the leg. I had consulted many vascular surgeons in Bangalore but they suggested me to wear stockings and they prescribed me have painkillers but I had no relief. I decided to go to USA. There I went to the clinic by name – Accredited clinic, Vascular Testing Faculty, Philadelphia, USA. The vascular surgeons suggested the latest technology, glue vein seal procedure. My father underwent angiography from a hospital after which he developed severe infection at the site of angiography. It led to extremely painful and debilitating false aneurysm, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. He was admitted in Apollo hospital Bannerghatta road in a very critical state. Dr. Sunder Narsimhan attended him and assured us that he would take care of any situation though risk was high. We felt like being in safe hands. The false aneurysm was constantly growing and needed immediate surgery but there being severe infection on the skin above it, surgery could spread the infection deeper. Hence Dr. Sunder treated it with an injection of thrombin with balloon control which reduced 80% of blood flow to the aneurysm. Max. dose of thrombin allowed had been given. Still aneurysm was so large, it kept growing.

Eventually as walls of the femoral artery had become weak so it ruptured causing acute bleeding. But for timely action of doctor Sunder it could have been disastrous. He immediately performed vein patch repair surgery and gave my father a fresh lease of life.

But biggest hurdle in the recovery was the multi drug resistant bacteria which my father contracted in the previous hospital. Inspite of giving the highest antibiotics available infection persisted due to which vein graft decayed. Again there was bleeding from the grafted artery. So another immediate surgery was performed by Dr. Sunder which involved ligation of artery by obturator bypass. After that my father got second lease of life.

He developed severe lymphorrhoea though, for which he required vacuum dressing for a few weeks.

But for the dedicated and committed efforts of Dr. Sunder and his skill, grit and determination the recovery of my father aged 84 years with multiple health problems would not have been possible. Dr. Sunder is highly proficient in state of the art modern vascular surgery techniques. Dr. Sunder exudes confidence and makes his patients feel safe and comfortable. He explains the problem and it's solution very well to his patients He must be one of the best vascular surgeons available in our country.

The hospital may be a little expensive but it is worth for the excellent patient care, health care and cleanliness they provide.We are really thankful to entire team of doctors as well as the nursing staff and the support staff for providing healing touch. May God bless all.....
