The procedure did not achieve the desired results, and we have experienced significant complications.Initial Consultation: On 30th October 2024, Dr. Shalini Shetty suggested an eyelid correction surgery and recommended it be performed at Apollo Bannerghatta Hospital.Surgery: The surgery was performed on 5th November 2024. During the follow-up visit, we were informed that a new prosthetic eye would be fitted in the next visit.Follow-Up Visit: On 26th November 2024, we visited the hospital for a follow-up on the surgery recovery. Dr. Shalini Shetty mentioned that another procedure was necessary, which was performed on 29th November 2024, to create space for the new prosthetic eye due to tissue growth inside the upper lid. We were told that the dimensions for the new prosthetic eye were taken and it would be ready in two weeks. We were assured that an associate would contact us once the prosthetic eye was ready. However, no one contacted us, and I had to follow up with the hospital repeatedly. Finally, we were asked to come on 26th December 2024.Prosthetic Eye Issue: On 26th December 2024, when we inquired about the new prosthetic eye, we were not shown anything. Eventually, we were told that the old prosthetic eye was good to use, but it was not shown to us either. The old prosthetic eye did not fit properly in the socket, making it appear as if there was no eyeball in the socket.Stitches Issue: The stitches from the surgery were not removed and did not dissolve automatically, even after seven weeks. When we asked about this, we did not receive a proper response.Additional Procedures: Despite the additional procedures mentioned in point 3 and the prosthetic eye issue, no additional charges were requested, which seemed unusual.Despite following all post-operative care instructions, my mom's condition has not improved, and we have had to seek additional medical attention to address these issues(Unfortunately it requires additional surgery for the socket reconstruction), for which we are not ready with one more surgery. *** ******* *** *** ********** *** ***** **** ** ***** **** *** ** *** *********** * ******** ********* The lack of proper communication and follow-up care from Dr. Shalini Shetty and the hospital has only added to our distress.I hope that by sharing our experience, others will be better informed when considering this hospital and surgeon for their procedures. I urge Apollo Bannerghatta Hospital and Dr. Shalini Shetty to take these concerns seriously and improve their standards of care and patient communication.I would never recommend Dr. Shalini Shetty for any issues. Despite her high claims during consultations, her surgical skills did not reflect this. I am considering taking this issue to the Medical Council of India.
