Dr. Ramachandran

“I actually wanted to go into the field of biotechnology or genetic engineering, but because I did not have much exposure at the time, it was my uncle who convinced me to go for veterinary science and now I am the first graduate in my family” says a proud Dr. Ramachandran. Dr. Ramachandran completed his B.V. Sc in 2012 and M.V. Sc in 2014 from TANUVAS. Between degrees, he joined Hatsun Agro in the dairy sector as a field veterinarian. After completing his masters, he joined Theosophical society, Adayar, where he worked with the veterinary unit for about 11 months. He rejoined Hatsun Agro for a brief period before joining Cessna Lifeline in 2017. Since joining, Dr. Ramachandran has spent his time in the night shift working on emergency cases and taking care of IPD patients. “Working night shift has taught me to deal with pet parents who are very anxious. It was initially very new to me but thanks to the guidance of Dr. Pawan and Dr. Ramesh, I have learnt a lot. With the experience I have become confident as well. You have to make quick decisions and develop a sharp presence of mind” says Dr. Ramachandran. Dr. Ramachandran comes from a farming background and now, being a vet himself, he is able to see things more scientifically and that has made it very interesting for him. “For me, diagnosis and prognosis explanation to clients is very important and I incorporate this regularly in my practice.” In the next 5 years, he would like to see more happening in the remote areas of the country. He finds that pet parents are becoming more conscious of animal care and wellness and are ensuring they get the of treatment for their pets, remote areas included. “During my free time, I love organic farming. I grow tuber, paddy, cotton seeds and some veggies for consumption.
