Dr Nitish Kallianpur Saved My Dog. Our 5-year-old male lab, Brody, was already having a tough time adjusting to our new home when he had two seizures in a span of 3 days. He had had similar episodes earlier but never had he been this weak and frail (at this point there was no diagnosis for anything). While the first vet we called to see him ruled indigestion, the second diagnosed epilepsy and started him on epilepsy treatment. We started the medication immediately. Though his seizures stopped, his overall condition deteriorated to the point that we thought we would lose him. Our small town in West Bengal has poor veterinary facilities and this second doctor visits only twice a month, sometimes less.

Asking to connect with Dr. Nitish was a desperate cry for help. My friend in Bangalore has two rescues and she takes both to Dr. Nitish. She swears by him and the clinic and always has great things to say about them. I contacted Dr. Nitish and explained the entire case history on Whatsapp. At that point I was expecting a general guidance only because who is this nice, right? He called in less than an hour and asked me to stop one of the medications that he suspected was draining Brody’s energy. He also urged that we do a blood test immediately. Within a day or two he started looking better and by then I had also arranged (with much difficulty) for his blood tests. Once I shared the report with the Doctor, he called me and explained that his reports showed signs of tick fever and that we should start him on antibiotics without delay.

Throughout this entire episode, I have whatsapped him several times with nervous queries and endless questions and he has always responded in the most professional and patient manner. At no point was I made to feel that I was disturbing him or asking too many questions (which I probably was). He also explained the limitation of treating remotely but by then I already knew Brody was in good hands.

It’s been a month since I started consulting him for my furry brother and Brody is fit now (touchwood). He is alert, active and back to his playful and needy self. I shudder to think what would have happened if I didn’t come across Dr. Nitish. I cannot be more grateful for what he has done for our family. Although it embarrasses me deeply, Dr. Nitish has not charged a dime and straightaway refused to take any consulting fee.

If you are a pet parent or a pet sibling (like me) in Bangalore area and are looking for a vet who will make sure your pet is well taken care of, you must see Dr. Nitish at the clinic. I have heard that all the doctors at the clinic are absolute angels. Good luck with your pet’s health. The doctors at the clinic know that your pets are your family, probably more. :)
