Dr. Sushma Tejwani completed her medical training i.e. graduation and …read morepost graduation at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak in 1999 before doing a fellowship in comprehensive ophthalmology (2000-2003) at L.V. Prasad Eye Institute. She worked as consultant at LVPEI (2003-2007) where she was actively involved in the education and training programs and headed the LVP-Zeiss Academy, which is a unique model for training residents from all over India. She was also in charge of the comprehensive ophthalmology fellowship program and part of the institutional review board for research.
She underwent training for glaucoma at Mayo clinic, Rochester, USA with Dr. Arthur Sit in 2007. She has also completed Level 1 & 2 Trabectome training at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Worcester, MA under Dr. Zacharia in July 2009. Her areas of expertise are glaucoma surgeries including glaucoma shunts, pediatric glaucoma management, and refractive cataract surgeries. She has keen interest in clinical research especially pertaining to glaucoma diagnostics like corneal biomechanics. She has presented at several national and international meetings, has multiple publications in peer reviewed journals and also written few ophthalmology book chapters. She has been part of many prestigious clinical trials at Narayana Nethralaya as well as LVPEI. She is presently working as the consultant and head of Glaucoma Services at Narayana Nethralaya-2, Narayana Health City, Bangalore since July 2007.
