He was the first to introduce a paediatric gastroenterology department in India with multidimensional growth in the field of patient referral, academics, research, training programs, he held high positions such as the Founder President of Indian Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ISPGHAN), Chairperson (National President) Pediatric Gastroenterology specialty of Indian Academy of Pediatrics etc.
He set up the first post-doctoral certificate course aimed at paediatric gastroenterology for paediatricians (post MD) in the year 2000. He has taken India to the world map on several disorders and research aspects that are highlighted through his international research publications and 30 book chapters. He is also the recipient of 94 prestigious awards for his relentless efforts and contribution to healthcare services.
