Dr Sai Shankar is a pediatric intensivist and a neonatologist with over a decade experience in general pediatric and intensive care practice. He has worked in some of the most prestigious Children’s Hospitals across the globe including UK and Australia. His special area of interest including care of extreme premature babies, post-operative care of pediatric general and cardiac patients, advanced ventilation and pediatric ECMO and VAD (ventricular assist device). His other expertise include focused echocardiography, point of care ultrasound, USG guided vascular access and simulations in ICU. Qualification and Area of expertise :After pursuing MD in pediatrics from Bangalore Medical College he worked in some of the corporate hospitals in Bangalore including Manipal Hospital and Columbia Asia. He was sponsored International training fellowship by the Royal College of Pediatric and Child health, London to expertise in pediatric and cardiac critical care at Southampton General Hospital, UK. He was also offered Neonatal fellowship training at Oxford University Hospital NHS Trust where he fine-tuned his skills in care involving extreme premature babies, care of babies with birth asphyxia and whole body cooling . Before joining Sakra , Dr Sai Shankar did his two years fellowship training in pediatric intensive care at The Royal Children’s Hospital ( RCH ) , Melbourne , Australia. RCH is one of the world’s Children’s Hospital and his training here involved taking care of children following open heart surgery , heart , liver and kidney transplant and care of patients on ECMO and VAD ( ventricular assist devices ). He has independently retrieved some of the sickest children via both land and air ambulance.
