I had no idea of what a fistula is. 1 fine summer, my bottom starts aching and I can feel a swelling. My parents thought it was haemorrhoids, some said its due to heat cos i sit and work all day ( don listen to all these home suggestions and remedies... big mistake). In a week's time, the swelling grew.

Manipal Hospital, Old airport road was the nearest to me and I consulted a Gastroenterologist and he sent me to a surgeon in the same hospital. The surgeon said, "Get admitted immediately, pay 1 lakh in advance, tomorrow is your surgery else it will eat more of your tissues blah blah blah". I was put to a state of Panic. I look at the treatment plan he wrote to me and laugh at it even now. I went home and googled and spent the night in reading reviews and crying "Why me ?". Luckily I found few reviews about Dr Rajeev Premnath and his VAAFT treatment etc and thought I will give it a try.

Went to Ramakrishna hospital the next day and consulted the doctor. He examined thoroughly (feels embarrassing the first time to show but u get used to it eventually bcos get prepared to show a million times :P ) and told me dat it looks like a fistula. Neatly drew and explained to me what it is, took some samples to test and prescribed me some medicines. He told me that there is no hurry, 1st go get a TRUS scan and also to do sitz bath parallely because my fistula was already draining by then. I came with the scan after 4 days and by then the medicines and sitz bath worked to some extent by relieving pain and swelling. It was nearly 1/5th the size it was 5 days ago, now. He told me it was near the surface and so did not recommend vaaft but a conventional fistulectomy. The surgery was smooth. I was awake through the surgery and spoke to the doctor throughout. it was over in 20 minutes back to my room, they served good food for the next two days and i was discharged. My next few consultations to show the healing was free. I went again in 2 months with a little discomfort and a scan revealed a small residual tract. It was fixed in another surgery but this one was minor. Got discharged the following day. All this happened in 2017 April and by God's (Actually Rajeev Premnath) grace, im all fine till date.

The doctor is very pleasant to talk to. Patiently addresses all your queries and prescribes only minimal medicines. Hospital charges are nominal. They serve all meals to the patients. Hospital is well equipped and clean.

PS: This is my first review and I am writing it after 5 years only to be sure I am completely cured. I have never written a review ever but this gem of a doctor deserves one. May God give him a very very long life.
