I'm a 32 year old woman. I had axillary breast tissue in both my armpits. I had developed this as a teenager and never really bothered to check or actually know what it was. But as I grew old, this lump kept getting bigger (the size of a potato) and I started getting conscious to wear sleeveless or tightly fitted clothes as the bulge would be evident from outside. Although it was benign and harmless, it added to a lot of discomfort both in terms of looks and feel. Then one fine day, I googled to find out what it was and decided to visit a gynecologist because that would be the obvious choice, considering it's related to breasts, but she guided me to plastic surgeon Dr. Neha Chauhan. Today, you don't find many experienced female plastic surgeons and hence finding her was a blessing for me. Not many people know that this requires the attention of a plastic surgeon and not a general surgeon or a gynaecologist. This is a very common occurrence in women and more than 50 percent of them are not even aware of it. I met Dr. Neha Chauhan and she examined and explained the condition to me very elaborately and said it requires surgery. She is a very dignified, confident surgeon and made me aware of my condition and educated me about things that I didn't even find on google. She made me feel very comfortable and gave me the courage to go for the surgery. I have never in my life been admitted in any hospital or undergone any sort of minor or major surgery but the confidence in Dr. Neha made me go for it without any second thoughts.The surgery took about 3-4 hours on general anesthesia. There was an incision made in both the armpits. The beauty of the surgery was that Dr. Neha made a very minimal size incision, about 1-1.5 inches and the extra tissues were taken out through it. The next 10 days of the surgery was a bit difficult because of the dressing that was done under both arms but the size of the dressing kept getting smaller and post 10 days of surgery I was fully fit and fine. Ideally, one should be okay after 3-4 days but I have very little threshold towards pain hence needed a proper 10 days rest. And honestly, what is 10 days when compared to a whole life of being free from that extra piece of lump on your body and being able to wear whatever you want to without thinking! After about 2-3 weeks, I could only see a small incision mark that almost got hidden along the folds of my skin. To sum it up, the whole experience was a smooth sail and all credit goes to Dr. Neha who handled it so beautifully and made it seem like a walk in the park. I would forever be thankful to Dr.Neha for making my life better!
