My recent experience with Dr. CN Patil.
It was during month of July when my Mom was diagnosed with Cancer 4th stage, I had visited couple of Doctors before I could freeze a Doctor to start the treatment.
I met CN Patil, who sounded very kind and helpful and during my first visit. This gentleman suggested us to start Chemotherapy and assured that he can handle this case which very common for him. Also he was keen to know, if I am holding Medical insurance and what is the limit. Finally we were informed, to start the treatment immediately. Initially I had to pay RS.60,000 for the first time, which includes Rs.30,000 for Chemotherapy and remaining Rs.40000 for Chemo port and other expenses. After we finished the surgery and chemo, I was given a bill for Rs.1,12,000. The billing department dint had any explanation for this and I was asked to approach CN Patil and he gave me a response ââSorry looks like we gave imported chemo which costed you Rs.60,000, for next we will try domestic medicineââ. By now I had already lost faith on this on him.
Without any option I still continued with the two cycles of chemo under his supervision. By now I had exhausted my medical insurance coverage. I was informed that I will have to go for different chemo medicine if which is required during this stage, which will cost me more than 1.2 lakh for each chemo or continue with same since I could not afford that.
Later I had to look for different Hospital; I had lost all confidence on this Doctor since continued changing medicine during both the chemo and for 3rd Chemo he wanted me to go for Avastin which will cost more than a lakh. This person dint had any feeling what the patents family is going through.
Finally I moved to a different hospital after all the experiment which he did.
Now I am treating my mom in a different hospital where I can afford the same chemo within my limit Rs.75000.
It was unfortunate that I had to again visit Apollo hospital for some clarification with different doctor, however I could not meet any other than CN Patil, since he had handled my motherâs case earlier.
In my entire life I have never come across any Doctor who can be so unprofessional. He gave me a lecture for not continuing the treatment under him. Below were his comments.
⢠We had AC lobby for our patents to wait which cannot be compared to a place where I am treating my mother.
⢠We have nurse who can give personal care where as the other hospital wonât even touch the patents
⢠He is spending 10 to 15 minutes for consultation which cannot be the case with my doctor.
⢠I have 100 patents to see every day, I can make a choice whom I need to be treating.
In spite of requesting him to stop talking nonsense, he continued with his unprofessional discussion. This was just because, he was aware that I have already exhausted my medical coverage and now I cannot get my mom at Apollo. In a very unprofessional way he asked me to walk out and made a statement that he has a choice to select the patent and even if Management forces he would still not agree for anything.
He completely sounded as though he owns the Hospital and in spite of spending close to 2 lakh, still I have not given him enough business in his language.
He has not done any charity work, with all respect we have paid Apollo for the given treatment. Just because of few people like him we loss all the confidence on hospital.
I pray nobody should go through all this when their family is in such a difficult situation. As a human being we extend support even for a stranger, If cant help at least we shouldnât be hurting others. My request to all the people who would like to take care of their dear ones please take them to a professional Doctor who can support you when you are in need. If they cannot support atleast they donât have rights to hurt anybodyâs feelings.
Please never approach an unprofessional and money oriented Doctors like C N Patil who make choices for treating patent based on their own personal interest.
I never had any personal complaint again Apollo but this experience gave me a shock which I am still not able to accept, when things are not good at home.
I still have all respect to the Doctors who are helping people irrespective of religion/cast/financial status. I still consider them as God because they give life people when we lose all hopes for survival.
