I was suffering from hair loss since the age of 25. Like most of the millennials- ambitious and career conscious- I never gave time to find solutions for hair loss or treatment. Rather, I was too busy working towards a progressive career.

Beginning of 2017, I quit my job and took a break of 6 months. This was the time when I started researching on Hair Transplant process, institutes and doctors in India. I travelled and met most of the biggest brands operating in this domain of hair transplant.

Most of them have state of the art clinics, best equipment’s, offices and celebrity endorsements. In short, it’s very difficult to select one out. Every clinic I visited performed a free scalp and hair check, advised medicines and nutritional opinions. As I was a potential customer, everyone wanted to sell at least something. This marketing behaviour discouraged me for taking a decision on hair transplant. I decided to postpone this task for a later stage in my life.

However, during my research, I realised a very important fact that it is not the clinic or equipment or the process- FUT or FUE- but the doctor and their assistant, determines the success of a hair transplant.

Based on the above conclusion, one of my close friend had a hair transplant with Dr. Anchal Shah in Bangalore. The results were unbelievable and astonishing. Following his recommendation, I decided to undertake the transplant with the same surgeon in her Ahmedabad clinic- Skinedge- in the month of September 2018.

For a person saying in UK, it was very easy and convenient to make travel arrangements to Ahmedabad. The clinic is conveniently located within short distance from Airport and it’s very easy to find a reasonably priced accommodation nearby. The equipment’s at the clinic are similar to what one will find at the best hair transplant brands in India.

The surgeon- Dr. Anchal Shah is extremely friendly. Unlike doctors from other clinics, she was very straight and honest from the first meeting and shared information on transplant process, time required for transplanted hair to grow, final hair density, number of follicles to be transplanted, hours required for surgery, pre and post-surgery lifestyle, surgery charges and other important information. I was really impressed by the hospitality of clinic staff, who were very friendly, served coffee and meals regularly throughout my stay during the procedure.

I had a FUE hair transplant at Skin edge for two days. Each day, first half was dedicated for extraction of hair follicles from back side of scalp and second half was meant for insertion of the extracted follicles. The process requires immense concentration and skill by the surgeon and her assistant. The surgeon’s role is to take out the follicles and the assistant prepares the hair graft. The assistant’s skill is to make sure the grafts remain healthy for the insertion process which happens at a later stage.

During the two days of transplant, I had more than 7,000 hair grafts inserted on the front and top of my scalp. Post-surgery, I didn’t feel any pain or uneasiness. In fact, I took a 9-hour flight back to UK on the very next day of surgery.

I feel really happy and satisfied by the overall experience of undergoing a hair transplant with Dr. Anchal Shah. My recommendation to the readers of this post, close your eyes and just travel to Ahmedabad for your transplant, it’s worth every penny. Good luck and Cheers 😊
